Signal Strength
The maps on this site show the estimated radio signal strength that a typical, current generation handset may receive from the selected mobile network. Signal strength is often shown as bars ( ) on the top of the handset display.
The displayed signal strength is representative of a handset that is used outdoors. Better indoor signal strength may be experienced in locations and buildings where a mobile network has installed additional equipment that is not shown on these maps.
Note that signal strength is not the same as data throughput speed - there are multiple factors that contribute to the througput speed such as handset capability, radio technology (3G/4G), the number of concurrent users, as well as signal strength. The actual signal strength (bars on the handest) however does set an upper limit on data throughput speed that could be experienced.
The maps do not show areas where a customer from one mobile network is allowed to roam on to the mobile network of another operator. For example in certain regional areas Vodafone customers may use the Optus network.
Inaccuracies in the information presented in this site may arise from factors including but not limited to inaccuracies of the source data, incompleteness of the source data and information about mobile networks that is not in the public domain.
